Day 1: Exploration of Paper Engineering Techniques
Focus question: What are some basic techniques of paper engineering?
Materials Needed: 2 pieces of cardstock, pencil, ruler, scissors
Teacher suggestions: Have students glue the Nazca Plate onto thick cardstock and color it before doing the next lesson. Have them wait on cutting it out as the lines may be a bit hard to discern. Have a sample of how to color to show them which parts need to be colored. Have students bring in a 1-gallon Ziplock bag with their names written on them or provide a manilla envelope to help keep all of the papers in one place. See Teacher Suggestion page for more details.
Homework: Create a pop-up and use it to explain some topic we've studied this year. You chose the topic. Be sure to include key vocabulary and proper grammar and spelling.
